Attn: #T1D folks.
Have you any experience with #fiasp, particularly as used in an #insulin pump? How does it compare to #humalog or #novolog?
I take #novolog via my #tandem #tslim, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to control my BG as my #gastroparesis grows more erratic over time. I’m wondering if a faster-acting insulin might help, allowing me to NOT bolus until I see a BG rise when my stupid stomach decides to start digesting (sometimes immediately, sometimes 4 hours later).
@VTDARKSIM it reacts extremely fast, both in and out of your system. For me, less than 2 hrs.
@Blindworrell … out of your system?
@VTDARKSIM yeah, insulin duration.
@Blindworrell lol I read that at first as “both inside and outside of your system”, hence my confusion
@VTDARKSIM no worries. I probably could have worded it better. My bad.
@VTDARKSIM fiasp is fantastic. Starts working in 5 minutes.
Downside is if I have a long meal, it will act faster than the meal so I need to eat to not go low.
@MisterMadge do you use a pump and bolus for your meals, or do you inject?
I’m seriously considering a talk with my endo about this. It would be an atypical approach but since I can’t find a single doctor who knows how to manage both T1D and gastroparesis, I may have to be my own innovator of sorts.
The first-pass logic makes sense to me, but I want to be sure I hear from people who have been there as much as I can before I take the leap.
@VTDARKSIM yea I have a pump.
I've been using Android APS for a few years. Closed loop with the unannounced meal switch would probably benefit you. (Or loopkit for iOS)
@MisterMadge that’s what I’m talking about! Thanks for sharing your experience with me!
