AnneTheWriter<p>Today, Jan.21st, is <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/SquirrelAppreciationDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SquirrelAppreciationDay</span></a>. It was created in 2001 by a North Carolina wildlife rescuer named Christy Hargrove, to help people recognize the value of <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Squirrels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Squirrels</span></a> in their local <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ecosystems" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ecosystems</span></a>.</p><p>It seems appropriate that yesterday, my family & I were driving home from Kentucky, and came through <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Olney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Olney</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Illinois" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Illinois</span></a>. As we had done on previous such trips to visit family, we drove around the town, hoping to spot one of their famous <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/WhiteSquirrels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WhiteSquirrels</span></a>, but were (once again) unsuccessful.🐿🌰☹️</p><p>More than once, I thought I spotted one. But my theory is that it's hard to distinguish any of them in the snow. So we could only pose next to the town's squirrel statue.</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/OlneyIllinois" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OlneyIllinois</span></a> holds regular counts of their <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AlbinoSquirrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AlbinoSquirrel</span></a> population, and has strict laws about loose cats and dogs, to protect their unique squirrel colony. </p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Eichhornchen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Eichhornchen</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Eichhoernchen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Eichhoernchen</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Squirrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Squirrel</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/SquirrelsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SquirrelsOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Squirrelstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Squirrelstodon</span></a></p><p>More about the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/WhiteSquirrelsOfOlneyIllinois" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WhiteSquirrelsOfOlneyIllinois</span></a> in this link:<br><a href="https://www.ci.olney.il.us/visitors/white_squirrels/index.php" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">ci.olney.il.us/visitors/white_</span><span class="invisible">squirrels/index.php</span></a></p>
