I spoke with outgoing SFMTA head Jeffrey Tumlin about robotaxis' impact on San Francisco – and the threat they pose to multimodal cities worldwide.
Tumlin: “I am very worried that so much of the joy of the remaining walkable cities in the world could be at risk from self-driving cars.”
@Mjhall i read this and he mostly just says that Waymo is great and it would be nice if public transit was as good as Waymo is

I see it a bit more nuanced with:
* there is no net positive to SF w/Waymo's presence &
* is nice2 have 4 those that can afford it &
* cities ought to have more regulatory governance.
It's too bad that American #PublicTransportation is seen as a welfare support system by many.
