Side view photograph of the Old Capitol Building on the campus of the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. The photo was taken in the early evening during late fall. The Capitol building, made of limestone, is in the center-right frame. The University of Iowa refers to the architectural style as Greek revivalist. There is a large, gold-leaf covered dome atop the rectangular building that rests on a circular structure of vertical columns. At the top of the dome there is a flagpole and both the Iowa State and the US flags are attached and blowing in the wind. There are other similar buildings on either side in the foreground and background. The left frame is bordered by a building with two trees with yellow fall leaves and the lower frame consists of a green, mown lawn covered in yellow fallen leaves. The sky above is pale blue with purplish clouds.
